What's Happening in Raven Athletics? | Addie Picker
With Halloween and November just around the corner, many of the fall sports at CCA are now seeing their seasons come to a near close. As the winter sports start to gear up, let’s take a look back at what this fall season has brought for CCA athletics so far and what’s in store for CIF’s in the following weeks.
Girl’s Volleyball officially closed their regular season last Tuesday with an at home, 5 set win against Sage Creek. Heading into their first round of Division 1 CIF playoffs, they held an 18-16 overall record. Their first round 3-0 playoff win against Classical Academy Tuesday night will bring them into the second round Friday night versus Santa Fe Christian.
In the world of Girl’s Tennis, the team advanced from their first round of CIF’s with a win Tuesday against Patrick Henry. Last night’s exciting win in the semifinals against Cathedral Catholic will bring them to the championships on Saturday where they will face Del Norte. We wish them the best of luck in their path to yet another open division championship win!
Girl’s Golf won their CIF play-in this week, qualifying the team for CIF’s as a 4th seed in Division 1. They will begin their pursuit for 1st place with the first round of playoffs on October 31st!
Going into their last home game of the regular season today, Girl’s Field Hockey holds a 10-13-1 overall record. After their impressive advancement to the open semi-finals last year, we are excited to see the team’s journey through yet another playoff season and what the future for the program will hold. Come support the team and celebrate their seniors for their Senior Game tonight at 5:45 PM!
Boys Water Polo brought pride to campus last year with their defeat of Poway in the Division 1 CIF championships for the 2021 season. After their Senior night game against Torrey Pines last night, the team will now head into the upcoming Division 1 playoffs.
Boys and Girls Cross Country will compete in their league finals on November 3, with the CIF championships taking place on November 12th. Throughout the season, both the boys and girls teams have finished high in tournaments and their CIF Division 1 future is promising!
Though we are sad to see the fall season near its end, the most exciting part is still upon us and we look forward to cheering our teams on as they enter CIF playoffs in the next couple weeks. We also welcome the upcoming winter athletics season and the athletes gearing up for it. This winter, we will watch both Girls and Boys Basketball and Soccer, Wrestling, and Girls Water Polo. Another exciting season is in close reach, so make sure you check your calendars for any tryout information for the upcoming winter sports. We wish the best of luck to all of our fall sports in their CIF pursuits and encourage students to show up and support our teams at their final matches!
